Join Mr. Brett A. Scudder for a special radio show focusing on the healthcare crisis of St. John's Hospital in The Rockaways and the realities of the impacts on the community. There are many rumors of what's happening with the hospital and how the union plays into it and so we are going to bring you the facts, realities and the impacts thus far. There are critical and needed services that have been outsourced, are no longer available and will more be outsourced from the hospital soon which doesn’t make it a full services healthcare system capable of handling the critical needs of a unique community as The Rockaways if these critical pieces are missing. When Peninsula Hospital was closing we heard similar stories, same rhetoric and we were told that St. John’s would be increasing their capacity to take on the load left over from Peninsula Hospital but that’s not what has happened nor is happening since then. Now 2yrs later this is what we’re faced with and now it’s obvious that there are very serious issues at St. John’s that needs to be addressed and the community must be apprised of them as we are affected by the loses.

Cutting these critical and needed services and programs are a death sentence to the people of the community who are still facing existing and impending health complications from hurricane Sandy’s impacts and aftermath. Urgent care centers are NOT the solutions and needs of the community, a full service hospital and trauma center is the need and what we must insist on having.

The guests from the 1199 Union will be Ms. Eunice Forde, Administrative Organizer of Health Systems and Mr. Brian Joseph, Vice President of Health Systems who are managing the union's operations for St John's.
